In de discussie over bonussen en variabele beloningen wordt stelselmatig gezwegen over het doel van de variabele beloning. Dat is slordig en belemmert de discussie. Daarom een beetje onderricht.

De politiek heeft weinig oog voor het beperkte belang van commissarissen bij het indammen van beloningen.
Achtereenvolgende kabinetten strijden tegen ‘buitensporige beloning’ van vennootschapbestuurders. Ten onrechte wordt aangenomen dat de raad van commissarissen de natuurlijke bondgenoot is.
